Ladyville, Belize

The Belize Bank Limited is pleased to announce the opening of its 12^th branch at Sky Plaza – Ladyville.  The new Sky Plaza – Ladyville branch will offer a complete range of banking services including, lending, deposit business, foreign exchange, and a 24-hour ATM.

Teller services previously offered at the Philip Goldson International Airport branch have been relocated to the Sky Plaza branch; the ATM at the Philip Goldson International Airport continues to remain operational providing quick access to cash.

At the opening the Chairman of the Belize Bank Limited, Lyndon Guiseppi, noted that the Ladyville Village and the surrounding areas are rapidly growing in both resident population and businesses, and that the time was opportune for the Belize Bank to expand the services they previously offered to the Ladyville market. The Head of the Bank’s Corporate and Retail Banking Unit, Martin Marshalleck, expressed his appreciation to the customers who previously banked with us at the Airport location and assured customers that they can expect to receive an expanded product offering and a superior level of service when they visit the branch at the new location.

The branch will be headed by Mrs. Martha Burrowes.  The Management and Staff of the Belize Bank look forward to serving its valued customers from this new location.  The branch was officially opened today, Monday January 21^st, 2013.

On Friday, December 7^th, 2012 the Belize Bank made a donation of over two hundred toys valued at approximately $1500 to the Salvation Army.  Each year the Salvation Army feeds approximately 1200 children and distributes over 2500 toys at an annual Christmas luncheon held at the Holy Redeemer Parish Hall.

The spirit of giving continued on Wednesday December 12^th, 2012 when the Bank held the 4^th Annual Belize Bank/Stella Maris Christmas Party.  Four years ago the Bank was approached by the institution to assist with funding for the school’s Christmas party, but the Bank made the decision to ‘adopt’ the event and host it completely for the students, teachers, and faculty.

This year, the party was held at the St. John’s College Gymnasium, and carried a carnival theme.  129 students were treated to carnival games, popcorn, snow cones, a traditional Christmas dinner, and a special visit from Santa who brought gifts for all the students.  The Management and staff of the Belize Bank donated the gifts for the children from their own personal funds.

On Thursday the 13^th, the Bank made an official presentation and handing over of a custom-made wheelchair accessible swing set to the Stella Maris School.  The swing allows wheelchair bound children to experience ‘swinging’ via a special basket in which the wheelchair securely sits.  The donation is valued at BZ$10,000 and is a sign of the Bank’s continued commitment to the institution.

RE: Updating of client information in compliance with Central Bank of Belize Regulations of Anti-Money Laundering

We refer to our letter dated September 2012 and prior published public notification in March 2012 regarding the updating of client information, particularly documentation related to the verification of identity and address verification.

The Belize Bank Limited (BBL) wishes to advise its clients , whose account information has not yet  been received to update their account, that such account(s) will be blocked commencing December 1, 2012 until the necessary information is submitted to BBL.

Local legislation requires a Financial Institution to terminate a client relationship if identity verification cannot be completed.  In order to avoid the aforementioned circumstance, BBL is requesting its clients to contact their Customer Service Representative or Relationship Manager to determine their account updating status.  The Belize Bank Limited appreciates its client relationships and wishes to provide undisrupted services to its clients.

The Belize Bank Limited today made a donation of much needed office and computer equipment to the Belize Red Cross Society. In mid-August, the humanitarian organization was burglarized all of its computer and electronic equipment stolen.

On hand for today’s donation were the Bank’s Marketing Manager – Misty Michael, and Director General for the Belize Red Cross – Lily Bowman. The donation is valued at $3,500, and it is the Bank’s hope that this equipment will allow the Belize Red Cross to continue the valuable work and services that they provide to Belizeans across the length and breadth of Belize.

The Belize Red Cross has been operating in Belize since 1914 and a branch of the Society was officially established in 1950. The work of the Society can be divided into two areas. The first focuses on health and community care (including HIV/AIDS education), first aid and home health care training, and social welfare programs such as a soup kitchen, and meal provision to children. The second area of activities focuses on disaster management and providing relief to victims of fire, flood and other natural disasters.

Eliza joined The Belize Bank in December 1991 and worked at various departments. In 1994 she was assigned to the Bank’s Card Service Center to assist with the implementation of the department. As the department progressed, Eliza was appointed manager in this Business Unit until present. Eliza has been a key resource in the management and operation of the Card Service Center. As manager, Eliza gained valuable experience in addressing client needs and in effectively adapting and anticipating changing market circumstances. She was involved in managing customer relations, sales generation and reporting, budget planning and monitory, income and growth analysis, work flow management and staff training countrywide.

Eliza holds a diploma from Muffles College in Orange Walk Town and an Associates Degree from St. John’s College Junior College in Math and Economics. She further pursued her education at Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Missouri and obtained a Bachelors Degree in Finance and Economics. Over the years, Eliza enhanced her knowledge extensively in the Card Industry and obtained several certificates in this business.
