Start today on the right financial course with the Deposit Account designed to best fit your needs. Our Savings accounts are interest-earning accounts which provide all the convenience of a chequing account, plus more of the extra benefits you use every day.

This basic savings account is ideal if you are starting a savings program or building funds for a major purchase or other investment.  And you can open a Savings account with as little as BZ$100.00!  Account benefits:

  • Watch your Savings Grow! Your account accumulates a competitive 5% interest rate that is paid semi-annually, in October and April.
  • Regular Transferences. Have a set amount transferred from your chequing account to your savings account each month.
  • Security. Feel more secure knowing your money is safe in a Belize Bank Savings account.
  • Easy Withdrawals. You have the option of withdrawing any sum of cash at any time.
  • Belize Bank Visa Debit Card. With a savings account you get this versatile Debit card.  You can also use it to get cash (up to $500 per day) from your account at any of our Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs).
  • Automatic Payments. Let us pay your bills for you!  We can pay regular bills like electricity and telephone if you sign up with your respective supplier.  All you need to do is sign up for a “Direct Debit” from your Belize Bank account at your local Belize Electricity Ltd. (BEL), Belize Telemedia Ltd. (Telemedia), and/or Belize Water Services Limited (BWS) office and we will arrange the rest.
  • Account Passbook. Another benefit we offer is a passbook to help you keep track of balances and transactions.
  • Joint Accounts. You can open a Savings Account with your spouse or anyone you wish. We call this a Joint Account, and you can operate it together or separately, depending on your choice. Either way, you are both responsible for all affairs on the account.
  • Easy Deposits. It's simple to add money to your account at any branch or some ATMs.
  • Protection. If you lose your chequebook, simply tell your branch immediately. If possible, give them the details of the last cheque you wrote. They'll help protect your money and try to recover your book if they can.  You can also stop a cheque which you have written. Just telephone or visit your branch (before the cheque comes in, of course) and give them full details.
  • Standing Orders. Need to set up a recurring transfer to another bank account?  We can schedule virtually any transfer – to a Belize Bank account or any other local bank account – daily, weekly, monthly, bi-monthly. All you need to do is write out your payment instructions and the dates you would like the transfer to take place and we will handle the rest (a small fee applies).
