Job Purpose:
The Personal Banking Officer will assist the Manager, Digital & Retail Banking Services in achieving the branch’s Financial Plan/Budget by profitably expanding existing clients’ relationships and developing new profitable relationships to meet or exceed his/her business development goals/targets. He/She is required to exercise sound credit judgment, conduct proper due diligence and attend to credit administration duties for accounts under his/her portfolio.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure assigned targets with respect to growth for the branch’s retail banking products and services (consumer loans, residential mortgages, credit cards, deposit accounts, etc.) are met
- Ensure accurate completion of all loaning documentation. This includes application forms, Promissory Notes, Worksheets, Debt Cancellation Applications, etc.
- Submit In-Branch/Authorized Credit applications in a timely and accurate manner for accounts under portfolio
- Where applicable, ensure all collateral items held on file for existing loans under your portfolio are maintained in good order
- Implement recovery strategy/individual work-out plans, write/visit customers, telephone/take action/follow persistently for collection of under 30 days arrears for accounts falling under the assigned portfolio
- Ensure documentation of all collection activities on Delinquency Control Form for under 30 days delinquency bucket for accounts falling under the assigned portfolio, to provide a clear audit trail
- Ensure all pertinent documentation is obtained and held on file for all approved loan application
- Follow proper risk and due diligence procedures, and ensure proper credit assessment as outlined in the Consumer Lending Policies and Procedures
- Work along with Management, other branch staff and peers for the betterment of the Bank by demonstrating flexibility/willingness to accept and implement change
- Actively follow the procedures outlined in the Superior Service Management Policy for serving clients at all service delivery channels and handling compliments, suggestions, queries and concerns
Educational & Work Experience Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Finance or related field
- Eight (8) years of progressive work experience in banking with at least three (3) years in the loans department
- Knowledge of the banking industry in Belize and general regulatory procedures mandated by the Central Bank of Belize
Skill & Ability Requirements:
- Bilingual with the ability to speak and write English and Spanish at an intermediate to advanced level
- Computer literate at an intermediate to advanced level with proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
- Very good organizational skills with the ability to handle high volumes of work
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, with sound judgment and tact in customer interaction
- Sound analytical and credit risk assessment skills
- Customer centric through proven customer loyalty initiatives/activities
- Ability to promote and sell the Bank’s products and services with ability to network extensively
- Ability to maintain confidentiality to highest priority in all functions at the Bank
- Ability to maintain professional maturity/composure under stressful situations
