What type of cards can be used at BBL ATMs? Our conveniently located ATMs easily accept the following card brands:

Are there any fees associated with my ATM withdrawals? You can conveniently withdraw funds using your Belize Bank Debit Card for a small fee of BZ$0.50 per transaction.
Other bank cards and credit card withdrawals carry a fee of $xx plus other bank fees that may be levied by your bank. Other convenient ways of accessing your funds include swiping your card at stores or completing online banking payments.
Is there a minumum and maximum withdrawal limit per day? You can successfully withdraw up to a maximum of BZ$1,500.00 daily from any Belize Bank ATMs countrywide.
What should I do if my card gets captured by the ATM? If your Belize Bank Limited debit or credit card gets captured at any Belize Bank ATM, please visit the nearest branch to request for your card. Your debit card may be easily replaced within 3 business days. If your credit/debit card was captured at an offsite ATM, it may take a few days before we can provide you with your card.
What should I do if the funds I received is not what I requested? If the funds received from the ATM does not match the amount that was charged to your account, immediately report it to nearest branch or via the mobile banking secure message center. We will investigate the transaction and should be able to provide a response to you no later than 3 business days.
What should I do if my account gets charged when I did not receive the funds? Is my small business account an interest bearning account? Our chequing accounts are non interest bearing accounts.
What fees are associated with this account? A monthly fee of $7.50 will be levied on your business or personal chequing account.
Other fees may include:
a. Cash deposit fee of $1.50
b. Cheque processing fee $2.25 for cheques processed by BBL
c. $3.50 for cheques processed by other banks
Is there a minimum balance requirement? After opening your account, you will be required to make an initial deposit of BZ$200.00. We recommend that the same balance be maintained in your account to avoid any overdraft fees.
Do you have a maximum number of account holders? We do not have any limit for account holders; however, the names must be included in your account opening letter.
How long does it take for an account to opened? The account opening process is completed within the same day or may take a maximum of 3 business days once all the required documents are presented.
Can I obtain an loan and overdraft? We have special loan and overdraft offers for all our SME customers with special rates and repayment terms.

To qualify for a loan or overdraft, you will be required to meet the following requirements:
a. Business must be formally registered for at least 12 months.
b. Business must be operational for at least 12 months. ials.
c. Evidence of business operations will need to be provided and this can be in form of bank statements or business financials.
If supporting financials cannot be provided, the request can still be considered based on demonstrated capacity or security.

Will I have access to online banking? Yes, you will be enrolled to online banking on the day your account is opened.
Will I obtain a debit card? Debit cards can only be issued for businesses registered under the catergory of individuals/ sole proprietorship. Incorportated entities cannot obtain a debit card.

Merchant Services

What are merchant services? Merchant services is a financial service typically provided to businesses that wish to easily and coveniently accept credit, debit and prepaid card payment methods (contactless, chip, or magstripe) with the use of a point of sale terminal (POS). OUR POS terminals accept American Express, MasterCard, and Visa cards.
What is e-commerce? “Ecommerce” or “electronic commerce” is a financial payment service method used for the buying and selling of goods and services online. It is one of the most convenient payment methods utilized for online transactions using a MasterCard or Visa branded card.
Can I obtain merchant and e-commerce services from Belize Bank? Obtaining both the merchant and e-commerce services from us is easy. Just follow these steps:
a. Visit the nearest Belize Bank branch to open your business account.
b. Based on your annual turnover our representatives will recommend the most appropriate merchant service(s) for your business.
c. Once qualified for our merchant services, sign our merchant agreement.
d. A merchant account will be opened for you.
e. Your POS terminal will be ready within 10 business days.
f. Our Merchant Officer will visit your business to install the POS terminal and provide the necessary training to your staff.
Can I use my personal or business account for this purpose? As part of the merchant approval process, you will be required to open a Belize Bank merchant account.
Which documents do I need to present to open a Merchant Processing Account? If you currently have an active business account with us, you will only be required to sign the merchant agreement and merchant account documents.
What is the approval time for this service? After all the required documents are submitted, our approval process takes between 1 to 5 days.
What card brands can be accepted? We accept any cards bearing any of the logos associated with Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.
What types of payments can I accept? With our POS merchant services, we accept contactless (card or mobile device), chip, and magstripe transactions. Businesses that accept online payments can easily utilize our e-commerce services.
Are both credit and debit cards accepted? Yes, we accept both debit and credit cards that carry the Visa, MasterCard, and American Express logos.
Will training or guidance be provided to my business personnel? Of course, our dedicated team will provide training to your staff on the card acceptance procedures.
When will I see the money in my merchant account? Payment transactions are available the following business day once your terminal is settled by 4:00 p.m. If you terminal is settled after 4:00 p.m., your transactions will be available in two business days.
What rate and fees will be charged for this service?

Our rate merchant fee rate is 3.50%*. If your annual turnover is below BZ$10,000 annually, we will levy a small monthly rental fee of $50.00.

How much can I transfer daily? With the use of soft tokens, enterprise and individual users will have the ability to make online transfers without the need of responding to a confirmation email. Limits will be as follows:
Enterprise Accounts : $150,000.00 or less
Personal Accounts: $5,200.00 or less
Transactions above these amounts will still require a confirmation email.
Are online banking transfers immediate? Instant funds transfer will be processed online 24X7, with funds available within minutes (if receiving bank offers this service) and a small fee of $2.50.
Deferred transfers have a $1.75 fee, per transaction, for payments made to other banks.
BBL to BBL transfers will continue to be FREE OF COST.
Are online banking payments immediate? Yes, Belize Bank to Belize Bank transfers are immediate. Transfer to other bank accounts are either immediate or deferred, depending on the option you select when processing the transfer.
How can I register for soft-tokens? 1. Log into your Belize Bank Mobile App
2. Click the side menu, scroll down and select Settings
3. Select the Register Soft Token option to start the registration process

What actions do I need to take if I change my phone? Does my OTP remain active? You must call customer service at 227-7132 from Monday through Friday, 8 am to 6 pm, to unregister the soft token.
Is my mobile banking safe if I lose my phone? Your mobile banking will remain safe if your login credentials were not stolen. To access your mobile banking, the other party will require either your credentials or biometrics. We advise you to contact us if you believe your online account is at risk.
What is the purpose of the OTP? A one-time password (OTP) is an identity verification tool for authenticating users logging into an account, network, or system.
How can I change my password or pin? To change your password or pin, you must visit the nearest Belize Bank Limited branch or contact customer support by phone at 227-7132. A new default password or pin will be given to you, which you can change when you first log in.
Can I update my contact information via the mobile app? We are here to make this process convenient for you. To update your mobile number &/or email address via the mobile banking app:

Can my joint holder have access to the mobile banking app? Yes. The app will be accessible to both account holders, who may also view account details. Each joint account holder may independently log in using his or her username and password to access the account.

Can I retrieve my credit card statement online? You can view your credit card statement online at any time by logging into your online credit card account and navigating to the statement information. If you’ve opted into electronic statements, you will be sent an email every month when your new statement is available.
How can I send messages to the bank using the mobile app? To send the bank a secure online message and question regarding your accounts, log in via the mobile banking app and select “my inbox” that is located to the bottom of your home screen, then select the plus sign to create a new message.

Business Overdraft

What are the requirements to obtain a business overdraft? If you do not currently have a business acount, kindly note the following requirements to apply for a business overdraft:
1. Certificate of registration
2. Audited and/or In-house financials
3. Collateral to secure the facility
4. Valid ID (Social Security or Passport) for the account holders.
5. Proof of occupancy in the form of either a utility bill in your name (within the past 3 months) for the account holders.

Belize Bank business account holders are required to present the first 3 documents listed above.

What is the maximum overdraft limit my business can obtain? An overdraft could help your business to deal with seasonal trends and short-term cashflow challenges. The overdraft limit granted varies depending on your need and affordability. Feel free to speak with one of our SME officers for small / medium business overdrafts or to one of Business Development Officers for larger business overdrafts. (provide link to BBU officers)
Is collateral a requirement for a business overdraft? There are two types of business overdrafts namely secured and unsecured. With a secured overdraft, you pledge property or another asset as collateral. This is required to get a higher limit, usually over $xxxx. With an unsecured business overdraft, you don’t need to pledge collateral against the overdraft.
What are your interest rates on business overdrafts? We provide competitive interest rates on overdrafts that range from 11.25% to 13%.
What is the payment frequency? An overdraft is an ongoing credit facility with no fixed repayment terms. Overdrafts are a form of revolving credit, much like credit cards. This means that you can pay off your existing overdraft in full one day and then draw from it the next, or you can increase an existing overdraft as long as you stay within your authorized overdraft limit.
When does my overdraft expire? A business overdraft can be set up to expire on a specific date or can be easily renewed after 1 year.
Will I be notified when my overdraft expires? Yes, your officer will contact you before the overdraft expiration date to discuss the requirements to renew or increase your overdraft limit.
Will I be required to visit the bank to renew my overdraft? No, on the anticipated date of expiration, an overdraft account is evaluated, and the review results in one of the following: review and OD limit improvement, or review and renewal at the same level.

Personal Overdraft

What is an overdraft? An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough funds in your acount to cover for a transaction. When you have an overdraft protection limit established on your E-Smart or chequing account, we will still honor the transaction on your behalf at an established rate.
What are the requirements to obtain a personal overdraft? Kindly be informed that the requirements for a personal overdraft are:
1. Valid ID such as a Social Security or Passport
2. Proof of occupancy in the form of either a utility bill in your name (within the past 3 months) or a valid driver’s license with your current address
3. Minimum required deposit of $20
What is the minimum and maximum overdraft limit that I can obtain?

The Overdraft Protection will be offered in four different amounts, namely, $500, $1000, $3000 and $5000.

What are your interest rates on personal overdrafts? We provide competitive interest rates on overdrafts that range from 10.50% to 11.50% on personal overdrafts.

An overdraft lets you borrow money through your current account by taking out more money than you have available in your account, In other words you go “overdrawn”. Typically, there is a fee for this service, which ranges from $50 to $250 annually, depending on the level of overdraft you are eligible for.

Please note that Fire & Hurricane Insurance must be obtained independently and must be renewed annually.

What is covered under my mortgage insurance? Mortgage insurance obtained from GK Life Insurance may include: Heart attack, stroke, life-threatening cancer, dismemberment, permanent disability under the health crisis protection. The critial illness protection may cover your loan for heart attack, stroke, and life-threatening cancer.
Can I refinance my existing mortgage loan? Yes, mortgage refinancing is considered once the necessary requirements are met. Kindly speak with one of our friendly loan officers about refinancing your mortgage.
What are the requirements to transfer my mortage loan to Belize Bank? Thank you for your interest in transferring your loan to Belize Bank. Please feel free to schedule an appointment with your nearest Belize Bank Branch and bring along the following documents:
a. Currently mortage loan statement
b. Employent verification form
c. House valuation

Our lender will be more thann please to reveiw your request and let you know if it convenient for you to transfer your mortgage.

Once your request is reviewed and it is determine that it will be beneficial for you to move your mortage facility, we will prepare all the legal documents pertaining to the transfer of the mortgage.

I am self-employed. Do I qualify for a mortgage loan? Yes, a residential mortgage loan may be considered with a repayment term not exceeding the age of 65.
Can my mortgage loan by joint with my spouse? One of the initial and most crucial tasks when you’re prepared to purchase a property is to apply for a mortgage. For married couples, this typically entails submitting a mortgage loan application jointly. As a result, you will own the house jointly and the loan will be in your names.

Vehicle Loans

What are the requirements to obtain a vehicle loan? Thank you for your interest in our loans, the requirements include:
1. Employment Verification Letter or Proof of Income if you are self-employed.

If you do not currently have any accounts with us, please also bring along the following documents:

3. Proof of occupancy in the form of either a utility bill in your name (within the past 3 months) or a valid driver’s license with your current address

What documents am I require to present to obtain a vehicle loan? Customers applying for a vehicle loan will be required to present the following documents:

What are your interest rates on vehicle loans? We provide competitive loan interest rates ranging from 11% to 14%. The interest is applied using the reducing balance method where interest is charged on outstanding principal amount.
What is the maximum loan amount for a vehicle loan? We offer a maxiumum of 100% financing for vehicles.
What is the maximum loan term for vehicle loans? The maximum repayment term is 84 months.
What fees can I expect? The loan application fee is 1% of the loan amount or a minimum of $300.
What payment options do you offer? We offer individualized repayment plans to meet your financial situation. Payments can be made weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. These payments are automatically withdrawn from your Belize Bank salary/deposit account.
How long will it take for my vehicle loan to be approved? The typical turnaround time ranges from 1 to 7 business days or as soon as 24 [business] hours.
Can I obtain funds to buy a vehicle abroad? Yes, we do consider loan requests for vehicles being bought outside of Belize. Such requests are approved based on your abililty to repay and financial character. After the assessment is carried out, the lender will outline the details.
Will any vehicle year be accepted? Or should it meet certain requirements? We do not have any restrictions on the vehicle age; however, the vehicle must be functioning.
What is a bill of sale? The bill of sale is a hybrid legal document that serves as both proof of a contract and confirmation of the transfer of ownership of the property, most commonly vehicles.
Will a bill of sale be required for a vehicle loan? Yes, a Registered Bill of Sale will be required for the vehicle loan.
Can I refinance my existing loan to obtain funds for a vehicle loan? Typically, financing for the purpose of purchasing a vehicle is done as a seperate loan. However, refinancing of an exisiting loan is still possible depending on the value of the security and the amount of financing required.
